We spent the winter of 09-10 at Holiday Travel Resort, Leesburg, FL on the same site for the past seven years. www.holidaytravelresort.com We just have grown attached to our neighbors and our turf. Winter 2010 showed no mercy on central Florida. We had prolonged weeks of spans from 32 to briefly 60 degrees always with a stiff wind. Imagine dressing in sweats in FL and layering on clothing for weeks. We carried on our normal activities of volley ball and computer, walking coat clad dogs and wondering why we did not see many folks for weeks. No one wanted to be out!

Our Canadian friends, Pat and Mary Ann Mannell with Susie Grey stopped by on a fridgid Dec. eve to visit as they continued southward looking fruitlessly for Florida warm.

In February we pulled out and went to Brooksville, FL (Tampa) for the area rally of FMCA. Charles, a Frustrated Maestro, played his T bone and directed some. www.frustratedmaestrosatsea.blogspot.com Again find more slideshows of the Frustrated Maestros.

Volley Ball still engages the majority of Charles’s time. In fact, he plays 9 days a week! Each day he manages the volley ball activities. Once a week he played V ball at another park and on Thursday the “professional” folks played again in the afternoon. His year included the daily monitoring of the teams, calendar reminders, coordinating with park activities, and the end of the year dinner. You might want to visit the V ball blog at www.htrvolleyball.blogspot.com Here you will find many slideshows of events.

Roxie continued her love of computer activities. See www.htrcomputerclub.blogspot.com She helped arrange for 13 Wednesday afternoon classes, monitored, with help, the bank of 4 online computers and assisted with the Monday morning Help Sessions. A highlight of her season was being host to Geeks on Tour, Jim and Chris Guld, the last week of January. These computer experts-teachers presented three seminars and an all day computer boot camp. http://www.geeksontour.com/

Our greyhounds, Trixie and Libby, continued their work with Paws Therapy Dogs, Therapy Dogs, Inc. We love this rewarding “work” and the girls are most happy to oblige for hugs and compliments of “wonderful and beautiful” as they lean on the recipient.  Lucky Beagle "works" hard guarding our car while she naps during our visits on her memory foam bed! Our boys, cats Spooky and PeeDee, relish the quiet time back in the motor home.

Florida finally arrived about mid March and we dared to put on shorts for brief periods of the day. Simultaneously the snowbirds began to take flight to the north. The opportunities to visit with friends were jilted by ole man winter! Next year when it is time to go south we will likely have some reservations but we will have continued expectations of linking up with friends. Maybe FL will be there waiting for us.
