We are riding into Florida to our winter home in
Leesbusrg at Holiday RV Village. You
recall that our park of 17 years, Holiday Travel Resort, was sold to a Canadian Company, Cove
Communities. Changing the name of the
park was just the start of redirecting our life in the park.
Our year was fairly normal until March when Covid began
to take over all of our lives. A rally Charles was to direct was cancelled ..in
Lincoln, NE. We have had no Frustrated Maestro events with FMCA rallies canceled. This has made for a very strange year.
We left our Franklin, TN
home in Oct. to go to RedBay, AL and Raper RV to have our graying front and
back end caps refinished. They are beautiful!
We were at home in Franklin, TN from April 9, until October
just mentioned.
At Thanksgiving we
went to a Tennessee state park in Lawrenceburg, TN 6 miles from our United Methodist
minister son and family.We were then on our way to Leesburg, FL and our winter
home of the past 17 years!!
Son Kevin is a United Methodist Minister in
Lawrenceburg, TN. Charles arranged a selection
for Kevin, his two sons and himself to play in church. His service is online each Sunday morning and these parents are able to "see him." each week.
Charles
is a part of the Lake Concert Band of Leesburg, FL, a group of 65+ musicians in
the area with a full performance schedule.
Rehearsals were weekly and the director-arranger is outstanding. At the end of March 2020 rehearsals and
performances abruptly ended.
Roxie enjoyed videoing the performances and putting many on You Tube
under Lake Concert Band or Roxie Marston.

Lake Concert Band, Leesburg, FL.
The director maintains contact with the band. A tentative start of rehearsals was set for
Jan. 9 but that was before the resurgence of Covid. This band rehearses from Sept – May but we
are only there from Dec. -April. We now
have learned that the restart of the Lake Concert Band is indefinitely on hold.
Our home in Franklin, TN for the last 53 years has provided us many trees which we planted! One tree at the front left of the house grew to 80 feet and hung over our home and the neighbor's home. We made the choice to have it taken down. We left the mammoth stump twelve feet around to hold a planter.
Our son Kevin and his family live in Lawrenceburg, TN
where heis minister of Coleman United Methodist Church. We spent Thanksgiving with them staying in
Crockett State Park 6 miles from his parsonage.
His wife is a supervisor of special education in an adjoining county.
In early December grandson Michael, a welder, had a
tragic accident at work and severely broke his left leg in two about 6 “ above
the ankle. He was life flighted from
their town of Lawrenceburg, TN into Nashville to Vanderbilt Hospital.
A rod was inserted in his leg and he went home in
Kevin’s truck. His mother applied for
Workers Compensation.
Arramgents were made for him to sleep downstairs in the
100 year old parsonage. This is across
the street from Coleman United Methodist Church.
Grandson John just celebrated his seventeenth birthday
and is a junior in high school. His school work is both virtual and two days in
class. The oldest grandson, Daniel, is working in Atlanta.
We still have our two Greyhounds Daisy and Heidi, both
12. Our 15 year old cat, PeeDee, travels with us. Dogs are Therapy Dogs and are hard at work.
The highlight of this year is a new trombone! Charles gets one every 60 years. And…his
only audience has been our greyhounds who are always willing to listen.
We left for Florida on Nov. 25 stopping in Lawrenceburg,
TN to visit Kevin and family for Thanksgiving.
We arrived at our park in Leesburg, Florida on Dec. 3, 2020. We will leave April 2, 2021.
We are finding that the over 900 site park is silent possibly because
of the many folks fearful of the virus or are Canadian and can’t cross the US
border.
Roxie continues to help run the public computers in the
park and be a part of the Monday Help Sessions....while observing the restraints
of Covid…distancing and social distancing.
We are not in any group arrangement.
This large tree lined park, almost 3 miles around, gives us “miles of
streets” for our morning and evening walks.
We are very aware of the terrific bombing in downtown Nashville, TN. While our home is 25 miles south of Nashville we have been involved with this town. Charles taught 26 of his 34 years in Nashville.
